Characteristics
The landscape of Mar Menor Golf Course consists of native grasses, flowering shrubs and palm trees. It’s the first of the Nicklaus Golf trail courses ‘the original’ 9 holes was designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 2005. It demands good shots to put the ball on the fairway and even better approach shots to avoid the strategically placed bunkers and lakes around the green. The course was extended to 18 holes in 2009 to a Jack Nicklaus design. The back nine holes have wide fairways and a spectacular lake, which comes into play on holes 13,14 and 15, where the water is the biggest obstacle to overcome. The rest of the holes are protected by strategically placed bunkers.
