Characteristics
Home to the European PGA Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship since 2006, it is easy to see why the Abu Dhabi Golf Club is quickly becoming a well-known venue around the globe. In addition to the fine championship golf course, Abu Dhabi Golf Club also has a wealth of great facilities on-site. Recreational amenities at the world-class venue include squash courts, a gym and fitness classes. Additional golf services include tuition, a well-equipped pro shop, fantastic clubhouse, and plenty of other practice facilities.
Overview
Carved out of the desert by Peter Harradine, Abu Dhabi Golf Club can be a brute off the back tees and in its championship set-up of thick rough and rapid greens. Generally, however, it is very playable with plenty of teeing options and you will get the opportunity to follow in your heroes’ footsteps. Martin Kaymer, incidentally, is the form horse here with three wins, Rory McIlroy has four seconds to his name.
Both nines return to the clubhouse and the chance to play the 9th and 18th which sit under the nose of the magnificent falcon clubhouse. Expect a course presented in genuinely outstanding condition, water hazards aplenty and some very slippery putts. And, should time allow, the 9-hole night golf is a spectacular experience.
Restaurants & Bars
If you’d like to indulge in some fantastic food after your round, then Abu Dhabi Golf Club has two brilliant options on offer. The Falcon Terrace, open from 6am-11pm, serves international cuisine and overlooks the 18th hole of the Championship Golf Course.
The other option is The Championship Lounge which is an ideal spot to watch all the sporting action, or just to catch up with friends. It has been combined with the signature steakhouse to offer a premium dining menu for guests to enjoy.
